1. Operator and contact point

Swiss Fare Check is an independent website for Swiss itinerary planning and transport pass and point-to-point fare comparison.

2. Information currently processed

• Calculator inputs: travel date, travel days, passenger counts, selected routes and passes, manually entered fares and options. Calculation and storage take place in your browser; the contents of these inputs are not sent to the operator or Google.
• Email enquiries: sender email address, any name supplied, message content and attachments
• Google Analytics 4 usage data: page URL and title, referrer, visit and engagement times, device, browser, operating system, language, approximate region, screen size, and events such as page views, scrolling and outbound-link clicks. An IP address may be processed in transit, but Google Analytics does not log or provide the original IP address.
• Google AdSense advertising data: cookies or similar identifiers, IP address, device and browser information, visited page and ad interactions used to deliver and measure ads, limit frequency and prevent abuse
• Basic access data: hosting and network providers may process IP address, browser details, request time, requested URL and error records to deliver and secure the site.

3. Browser local storage

The site uses the swiss_fare_check_state_v1 local-storage key to restore selected routes, entered fares, travel date, passenger counts and pass options.

This information is not sent to the operator and may remain on your device until you clear this site's data or local storage.

4. Email enquiry data

We use your email address and message to answer enquiries, investigate reports and follow up on errors. Ordinary enquiries are retained for up to one year after the final response, then deleted, unless an ongoing investigation or legal obligation requires longer retention.

5. Cookies, analytics and advertising

From August 6, 2026, the site uses Google Analytics 4 to understand visits and page use and Google AdSense to serve advertising. These services may use cookies, local storage or similar technologies and may process device identifiers.

Where consent is required, including in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom and Switzerland, Google's certified consent-management platform (CMP) asks for choices concerning advertising and analytics storage, ad personalisation and related data use. You may consent, refuse consent or manage options, and later change your selection through the privacy-options link shown on the site.

No visits before August 6, 2026 were collected and historical traffic cannot be reconstructed. You can also block or clear cookies, use Google Ads Settings, or install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.

6. Purposes

• Provide fare calculation, itinerary recommendation and state restoration
• Measure visits, navigation and page performance in aggregate to improve the service
• Serve and measure ads, control ad frequency and prevent abuse
• Respond to enquiries and error reports
• Deliver, troubleshoot and secure the site

7. Sharing and service providers

We do not sell personal information. The site uses Google LLC's Google Analytics, Google AdSense, consent-management platform and Gmail. Google processes the information above to provide, measure and secure those services and, where you consent, to personalise advertising. Processing may take place on servers outside your country.

8. Retention and deletion

• Browser local storage: until you clear browser data
• Google Analytics user-level event data: currently two months; aggregated reports may be retained longer
• Google AdSense advertising data and identifiers: for periods set by Google's policies, your consent and advertising settings
• Ordinary email enquiries: up to one year after the final response
• Hosting logs not separately retained by the operator: according to provider settings and policy

You can delete cookies and local data in your browser. Emails and attachments are deleted using account deletion tools when their retention purpose ends. Residual backups are removed according to the provider's backup cycle.

9. Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, deletion of, or restriction of email enquiry data relating to you. Email the address above and we will respond after reasonable identity checks. Because calculator state is stored only in your browser, you must clear it through your browser settings.

In regions where a consent message is shown, you can use the privacy-options link displayed by Google at the bottom of the site to withdraw or change advertising and analytics consent. Google Ads Settings and your browser cookie settings provide additional controls.

10. Children

We do not provide accounts or child profiles. Passenger age counts are processed only in your browser for fare calculation. Children should seek help from a parent or guardian before sending email.

11. Security

The site uses HTTPS, does not send calculator-input contents as analytics or advertising events, applies security attributes to external links and limits access to the repository and contact account.

12. External links

Third-party sites such as SBB, transport operators, Google and Instagram apply their own policies. Calculator inputs are not passed to them merely because a link appears on this site.

13. Policy changes

When processing changes, we will revise this page and its effective date. Material changes to analytics or advertising providers, collected data or user choices will be documented and any required consent flow updated before activation.
